Creating a bold brand for a fresh SAAS player in the compliance auditing sector

For years, Electrical Engineer David Winsor completed compliance auditing for some of the biggest companies in Australia. The process is mired in duplicated hard-copy paperwork and rarely delivered an outcome for the business beyond compliance. David saw a better way that cut out duplications of effort, held people accountable, retained corporate ownership of the process, aligned to ISO standards, and delivered a return on compliance. He needed help with naming, and bringing the story to life for his market and his team. 

We had mentored David at River City Labs and quickly realised that he was a very capable founder. His naming was a challenge, being unclear, hard to spell and challenging to remember. Rather than conducting a naming process ourselves, we opted to coach David in our Dark Art of Naming™ process to come up with his own viable brand name.

Eventually, he landed on a great idea that was a viable trade mark and ((following a BRAD® (Brand Research And Discovery)) process we stepped in to help with the remaining narratives.

Quartile 5 | Untold

The existing brand name wasn't aligned with David's strategic narrative and needed rethinking. His SAAS platform took a radically different approach, harnessing ongoing iterative improvements as they were unearthed through the audit.

Traditional compliance auditing rarely sees the implementation of these improvements within the 4 quartiles. This added dimension became the 5th quartile, the deliverable being an improvement continuum that overlapped the traditional quartile process.
